From Clarity to Connection: Elevate Your Leadership Journey

Dec 30, 2024

Hi there,

Have you ever left a meeting feeling unsure of your role in a new initiative? As leaders, it's easy to default to the word “we” when sharing goals or plans. But vague collective language can leave team members confused about their responsibilities.

In this YouTube video, I break down this common leadership pitfall and offer tips to move from a general “we” to a specific “me,” ensuring clarity and ownership in your team.

Leadership Tips to Implement Today

  1. Define “We” Clearly: If “we” represents a high-level goal, clarify that. But when it’s time to delegate, replace “we” with actionable individual roles so each team member knows their part.
  2. Honor Time and Purpose: Before inviting someone to a meeting, ask yourself:
    • Are they impacted by the topic?
    • Do they need to contribute?
    • Can the information be shared via email instead?
Meetings are valuable but shouldn’t feel like time traps for your team.
  3. Foster Ownership: When team members know their exact contributions, they feel empowered and motivated to deliver.

Leadership is about making sure everyone understands how they fit into the bigger picture. When people see their role clearly, collaboration and accountability thrive.
